5/21/2023 0 Comments Good grief book lolly winston![]() ![]() She is suddenly thrust into a life that she never thought she would have to live. Sophie is 37 and had been married for only three years when her husband, Ethan, dies of cancer. It didn’t sound like something I would pick up on my own. However the book they had chosen this month had me a little cautious. ![]() You would think with how much I read that would be a natural thing. Why I have never joined a book club before is beyond me. I recently joined a book club ran by a local library. But starting over has its hurdles soon she’s involved with a thirteen-year-old who has a fascination with fire, and a handsome actor who inspires a range of feelings she can’t cope with-yet. With humor and chutzpah Sophie leaves town, determined to reinvent her life. Self-medicating with ice cream for breakfast, breaking down at the supermarket, and showing up to work in her bathrobe and bunny slippers-soon she’s not only lost her husband, but her job, house…and waistline. ![]() Alas, she is more of the Jack Daniels kind. Thirty-six-year-old Sophie Stanton desperately wants to be a good widow-a graceful, composed, Jackie Kennedy kind of widow. ![]() 5/21/2023 0 Comments Autobiography by morrissey![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Morrissey gets the Penguin Classics treatment Most people, like me, will fall somewhere in between, recognizing that while Morrissey is an intriguing character and among the most literate of pop stars - famously name-checking Oscar Wilde in a Smiths song and now devoting a section of his Autobiography to his literary heroes - that doesn’t necessarily make him a great writer. Morrissey fans will adore this book, while anyone who already detests him will find it an often beguiling journey into one man’s inflated ego. Autobiography, the new memoir from the band’s iconic and controversial singer, will be equally polarizing. But I was always on the fence, finding some of their songs exhilarating and others forgettable. When I was a teenager, I was often advised that the Smiths were a band that one either loved or hated. ![]() 5/21/2023 0 Comments Read echo by seven rue online free![]() ![]() ![]() They made readers love them, they made readers sad, they made readers angry, they made readers laugh, they made readers cry, and they made readers believe in the promise of love and home. ![]() The characters in this novel bring life and heart to this story, each with a distinct voice and personality. But the biographical interpretation occasionally confuses the writer with her creation and ultimately limits the novel to a wishful righting of Brontë’s childhood torments, unhappy work as a governess, and painful, unrequited passion for Constantin Heger. The psychologizing, speculation, and parallel-hunting are interesting and occasionally haunting for example, Pfordresher finds Brontë’s dead sisters in the character of Jane’s best friend, Helen Burns. He doesn’t quite resolve a paradox of Jane Eyre: Brontë claimed she was not her heroine, but the novel was titled “an autobiography,” and she insisted on its truth. Pfordresher makes his way with anecdotal ease through his subject’s life, generously acknowledging his debt to previous biographies, letter collections, and Brontë’s juvenilia. This book is a narrative of that transformation, essentially a biography of Brontë as told through the events of her novel. Pfordresher ( Jesus and the Emergence of a Catholic Imagination), an English professor at Georgetown University, suggests that Charlotte Brontë’s beloved novel Jane Eyre draws its deep emotional power from the way she refashioned her own losses and frustrations into her heroine’s triumph. ![]() ![]() ![]() But devious seduction turns to love and Menaka, falls in love with the man she is sent to destroy. She descended from heaven on Indra’s orders to disturb and break the sage’s penance. ![]() Traversing from the spiritual to the passionate, is the torrid, tempestuous romance of the apsara Menaka and Vishwamitra, the powerful sage who was a threat to Indra, the king of Gods. Radha is no longer the mortal maiden but the Supreme goddess who with the gopis- the various divine personalities participating in the rasa dance – celebrate the spiritual love between them. ![]() ![]() Radha broke every conventional rule when she fell in love with Krishna – she was older, a married woman and yet her convictions of her endless love turned from the ordinary to the extraordinary, transcending societal mores to a heavenly acceptance so much so that Radha Krishna are together known as the feminine and the masculine aspects of God. Krishna, himself becomes a symbol of romance and the love of Radha and Krishna is considered one of the highest kind, both divine and yet rebellious. Radha broke every conventional rule when she fell in love with Krishna – she was older, a married woman and yet her convictions of her endless love turned from the ordinary to the extraordinary ![]() 5/21/2023 0 Comments The Good Master by Kate Seredy![]() ![]() Think Farmer Boy set in old-time Hungary, and then add Kate, a feisty, mischievous cousin from the big city of Budapest, who is sent to stay with her country cousin Jansci and his parents because she's so spoiled and unmanageable that her single dad doesn't know what to do with her any more. I hid it in my school desk so the teacher wouldn’t notice I was reading instead of listening to the lesson (yeah, I was that kind of kid). I read it so many times when I was a 10-15 year old bookworm that I'm surprised my copy of the book stayed in one piece. I recommended this book to a GR friend for her young granddaughter, and started reminiscing about how very, very much I loved this book when I was a young teen. If you like nostalgic, heartwarming children's fiction, this book is SO good. ![]() The Good Master, a Newbury Honor book written in 1935, is set in the Hungarian countryside in the early 1900s. ![]() 5/21/2023 0 Comments Sigma jasinda wilder![]() ![]() He continually humiliates her and wants revenge on her parents. I know it's just a novel, but this is the man who had her taken from her bed, kept in the dark and subsequently sliced her leg to prove a point. Until she falls at her kidnappers feet because he gives excellent orgasms. Rin goes from oggling her best friends 15 year old brother to maintaining fortitude throughout her kidnap. Then suddenly she is a totally different woman within a couple of days. I thought Rin to be a spoiled and childish character. If this was the intent I'm afraid it failed. ![]() Another reason would be that I felt the empathy built in the original books was being traded onto Rin.Īs if learning her parents story gave an automatic connection to their daughter. In my mind they are immortalised as forever young. Part of it is because I didn't want Roth and Harry to be in their sixties. The whole next generation maybe? I don't know. Now, I enjoyed the original books in this series, I did, but couldn't quite get there with this book. ![]() 5/21/2023 0 Comments The alchemist by michael scott![]() ![]() From what I have read about Sophie and Josh I am confident that they are in fact the Twins of Legend.
